Mapusa: A woman from Mapusa allegedly died due to negligence after a liposuction procedure. Bernadette Mascarenhas, 55, a resident of Ansabhat in Mapusa, who underwent the cosmetic surgery at a beauty clinic in Panaji, died allegedly due to medical negligence.
Mapusa police have registered a case of culpable homicide under section 304 read with 34 of IPC against a Delhi-based doctor and the proprietor of the beauty clinic.
The alleged case has been registered against Dr S Arora, Mapusa PI Tushar Lotlikar told STOI.
Mapusa police had initially registered a case of unnatural death. Later, son of the deceased Stephen D'Cunha lodged a complaint against the doctor and clinic for medical negligence. The complaint along with post mortem report and case paper were forwarded to the medical board of Goa medical college and hospital, Bambolim with a request to set up a team of doctors to look into the case.
Mapusa police registered a case of culpable homicide on Saturday after receiving the GMC report that placed the cause of death due to medical negligence. tnn
