International Day: Biodiversity celebrated in Abbottabad

The United National has proclaimed May 22 as the International Day for Biological Diversity

ABBOTTABAD:  

To observe International Biological Diversity Day, divisional office of the wildlife department arranged a function in Abbottabad on Saturday. On the occasion, the divisional officer for wildlife, Iftikharuz Zaman, said the coexistence of different kinds of animals and plants makes a balanced environment and is therefore imperative for human life. He added all the living beings are created with a purpose and therefore it is the responsibility of the people to protect and conserve those in the environment. The officer told the guests present on the occasion that an awareness campaign will be launched in Abbottabad, Galiyat, Mansehra and Haripur where students, social activists, farmers and the media would be present so that the importance of biodiversity could be highlighted to them through lectures, walks and dialogues. The United National has proclaimed May 22 as the International Day for Biological Diversity.
