The body of Mohit Kumar (15) was found hanging from cloth tied to a tree in a field near his house. School principal Sharmila Devi and teacher Ashok Kumar have been booked for abetment to suicide at Khol police station.

"As per allegations, the boy was tortured and humiliated for Rs 50. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, we have asked the Khol station house officer to ensure early action," she said. According to information, Mohit, the youngest of the four siblings born to a small farmer, Sunder Singh, was a student of Adresh Model School in Khaleta. "Few days ago, Sharmila had asked Mohita to get her mobile phone repaired and gave him Rs 1,000. Mohit paid Rs 950 for the repairs and did not return the balance to the principal. It irked the principal and she had been torturing him for the past three days," alleged his parents.
On Friday, Sharmila called Mohit to her room, and she, along with Ashok, allegedly thrashed and humiliated him before other students. Mohit shared the incident with his parents, who were to meet the principal on Saturday. "Initially, Mohit had gone to his room. He left home in the evening. As he did not return till late night, his parents had started searching for him. The search ended in the fields at some distance from the house where Mohit was found hanging," said police.
