Hyderabad: Acting on a complaint by Majlis Bachao Tahreek leader Ajmed Ullah Khan, the State Wakf Board (SWB) has launched a probe into the alleged removal of a 'chilla' in Afzal Gunj to make way for the Metro Rail.
Khan on Saturday lodged a complaint with the SWB stating that the chilla was removed without the permission of the board and alleged that its was done with the consent of its mutawalli (manager).

"The chilla has been there for several years and was removed without the consent of the board. I first approached the Sultan Bazar police station and then the SWB. The latter has said that it will probe the matter," Khan said.
When contacted SWB chief executive officer Mohammed Asadullah said that Khan's complaint has been admitted and that a wakf inspector has been instructed to visit the site and begin the probe. "We were told that the mutawalli, one Akbar, has accepted the compensation on behalf of the board. If this has happened, then it is wrong. A mutawalli is just the manager and has no authorisation to accept cash. We will first check facts of the case and then see who in our records the mutawalli is. Once that is done, a report on will be submitted and action will be taken accordingly," he said.
