Union secy visits FSI

Ajay Narayan Jha, Secretary, Union Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, visited the Forest Survey of India (FSI) in Dehradun today and reviewed the activities of the institution.
Forest Survey of India Director General Saibal Dasgupta apprised him about various activities going on in the institution, including forest cover mapping, forest inventory, forest fire pre-warning alert system, high resolution satellite data for precise monitoring of forest resources on the ground. A presentation on newly developed e-Green Watch for CAMPA monitoring and decision support system for forest clearance activities was given.
Jha also visited various laboratories established for forest cover mapping, e-green watch, high resolution data processing, forest type mapping, inventory, forest fire monitoring and data centre. He expressed satisfaction at the initiative taken by the Forest Survey of India for the Digital India Mission.
Jha emphasised on monitoring the changes at a regular interval so as to address the issues for better management and development of forest resources of the country. Dr Savita, Director, FRI, was also present on the occasion.
