Governor Narasimhan tests GHMC's alertness to rain havoc

Posing as a common man caught in a traffic jam at Madhapur, governor ESL Narasimhan on Friday evening called up the emergency control room (No 100). Narasimhan was told by the call attendant that the Madhapur traffic police would be informed of the bottleneck and he would be given information on alternative routes. Narasimhan, who gave a private number and did not identify himself, later received a prompt call from the traffic police directing him on other possible routes.

Hyderabad: Posing as a common man caught in a traffic jam at Madhapur, governor ESL Narasimhan on Friday evening called up the emergency control room (No 100). Narasimhan was told by the call attendant that the Madhapur traffic police would be informed of the bottleneck and he would be given information on alternative routes. Narasimhan, who gave a private number and did not identify himself, later received a prompt call from the traffic police directing him on other possible routes.

Narasimhan also told the call centre executive about trees that fell due to strong gales blocking roads in Madhapur. Later, when he called the Madhapur traffic police, he was satisfied to know that the same was intimated and they were in the process of removing the trees with the help of GHMC officials.
The governor called up GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy and inquired about the situation in the city after rain havoc. The commissioner briefed him about the measures being taken by various departments.
On Saturday, Janardhan Reddy met the governor and appraised him of the status of complaints received from people. The governor reportedly shared his experience of calling the control room and appreciated the call centre staff for their response.
