Lucknow: He carried a cash reward of Rs 50,000 and worked for a dreaded criminal from Siwan, Bihar. The anti-terrorist squad and a police team from Bihar on Friday night nabbed Dilip Kumar Singh, a native of Samastipur in Bihar, who had been taking refuge in the city for past six months. Police were probing if Dilip was working with some mafia group in Lucknow.
Booked for murder, robbery, forgery, extortion, firing at policemen and other charges, Dilip had also been booked for attempt to murder by Mohanlalganj police in 2009. There are 18 FIRs registered agianst him in UP and Bihar.
Dilip took to crime in 2003. He remained on the run after escaping from police custody and was nabbed on the basis of specific tip-offs by an informer. IG ATS Asim Arun said that Dilip was trying to foray into real estate business and was working with a property dealer. "He stayed in Vinay Khand, Gomtinagar. He was close to a property dealer and further probes are on," said Arun.
Probe Dilip used to work for Raka Tiwari, a dreaded criminal from Siwan who was gunned down in police encounter in 2007. He later formed a gang with Raka's younger brother Tribhuvan and started extorting money. He escaped from the custody of Bihar police twice and also spent some time in Nepal.
