Didi brings back top cop moved by EC
KOLKATA: West Bengal's Trinamool government on Saturday reinstated Rajeev Kumar as the Kolkata police commissioner on Saturday. This was the party's first decision after getting re-elected with an overwhelming majority this Thursday.
The Election Commission (EC) had removed Kumar from the post on April 12 after a BJP complaint against him. Soumen Mitra, who had replaced Kumar, will be named additional director-general (training), a post usually reserved for those not perceived to be very compliant.
Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee had made it apparent that she was not happy with Mitra's "overdrive" during the polls although the public had lauded him.
