As improbable as it sounds, playing the baddie in Balayyas Dictator helped Vikramjeet Virk land his maiden international film, Buddies in India a sequel to the 2012 film, Lost in Thailand. Apparently, it was the actors styling in the film that convinced popular Chinese actor-director Wang Baoqiang that Vikramjeet was perfect to play the role of Bull Demon King, a much revered figure in Chinese mythology.
The filmmakers were on the look out for an actor to play the role for over three months, when they heard of me. I was shooting for Dictator at that point, so I was sporting short hair and long beard for my role as the dreaded don, Vicky Bhai. The casting director said I looked exactly like the Bull Demon King and I was immediately on board, recalls Vikramjeet, adding, They needed someone who looked as huge and magnificent as the fabled mythological character is believed to be. luckily, I fit the bill. In fact, never before did an Indian actor play this character.
Vikramjeet, who recently completed shooting for the film, sounds pretty chuffed. We shot for over 20 days in Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur. It was an unforgettable experience to shoot with a cast and crew hailing from a culture that is so unlike ours. We managed to pull it off despite being unable to understand each others language. The way they work was a revelation and the equipment was so high end, says Vikramjeet, signing off.
