J&K: Five militants killed in encounter
In one of its biggest operations, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir killed five terrorists during an encounter in the Kupwara district.

The encounter broke out in Drugmulla, a part of north Kashmir's Kupwara district, this morning, after the Army and local police cordoned off a village after receiving information about presence of militants in the area.

Following an intense cordon and search operations in the area, the forces fired motor shells at the suspected hideout of the militants and faced retaliatory fire, triggering an encounter, injuring three soldiers.

The three soldiers were rushed to the military hospital in Drugmulla and were later referred to the Army hospital in Srinagar. Two of the injured soldiers were identified as PR Mahadev of 41 RR and Atul Kumar of 47 RR of Indian Army.
