Worcestershire vs Durham

Tom Kohler-Cadmore got Natwest T20 Blast, 2016 off to a stunning start as he slammed a blitzkrieg 127 off 54 balls to power Worcestershire to a mammoth total of 225.

Opting to bowl first, Durham were left regretting their decision as Kohler-Cadmore tore into the attack. Such was the intensity of Kohler-Cadmore's attack that the other Worcestershire batsmen had little time to create an impact. When the third wicket fell at the score of 93, the other batsmen had only contributed 15 runs to the total.

Kohler-Cadmore found some support in the form of Ross Whiteley and Brett D'Oliveira for company as Worcerstershire propelled towards a mammoth total.

In reply, Durham got off to a promising start, racing away to 93/2 in the 10th over, before regular wickets dented their progress. Joe Leach took 5 for 33 to kill off Durham's challenge. They were restricted for 187 to succumb to a 38-run defeat.

Brief scores: Worcestershire 225/6 (Tom Kohler-Cadmore 127, Brett D'Oliveira 39; Scott Borthwick 2-24) beat Durham 187/8 (Phil Mustard 64; Joe Leach 5-33) by 38 runs.

Nottinghamshire vs Warwickshire

Sam Hain was the star with the bat for Warwickshire while Jeetan Patel shone with the ball as Warwickshire beat Nottinghamshire by 6 wickets.

Opting to bowl first, Warwickshire made a good start by sending back Michael Lumb and Sam Wood within the first six overs. However, Riki Wessels, Greg Smith and Daniel Christian contributed with fine knocks to help the side recover and put themselves ina position on strength. The visitors, however, fought back with a splurge of wickets from the 15th over to restrict Nottinghamshire to 179. Patel was the best bowler with three for 23.

In reply, Sam Hain took the responsibility of the chase with a solid unbeaten 92 while William Porterfield and Luke Ronchi came up with good knocks to help the side get to the total with two balls and six wickets to spare. Hain slammed his 92 off just 54 balls, in a knock that included 12 fours and two sixes.

Brief scores: Nottinghamshire 179/7 (Riki Wessels 52, Greg Smith 43; Jeetan Patel 3-23) lost to Warwickshire 185/4 (Sam Hain 92*, William Porterfield 26; Sam Wood 1-9) by six wickets.

Leicestershire vs Northamptonshire

Leicestershire's Umar Akmal made a bright start to his Natwest T20 campaign but was outdone by Richard Levi's stunning assault as Northamptonshire triumphed by 5 wickets by DLS method.

Batting first, Mark Pettini, Akmal and Tom Wells played well for the hosts to help them get to a competitive 178/5. Seekkuge Prasanna was Northamptonshire's best bowler with figures of 1 for 21 in four overs.

In reply, Levi took charge from early on to put his side in command. His 61 came off just 29 balls and was studded with seven fours and three sixes. He fell in the ninth over, but his side cantered to an easy win.

Brief scores: Leicestershire 178/5 (Umar Akmal 52*, Mark Pettini 43; Graeme White 1-15, Seekkuge Prasanna 1-21) lost to Northamptonshire 168/5 (Richard Levi 61, Ben Duckett 37; Ben Raine 2-34) by 5 wickets (DLS method)

Kent vs Somerset

Jim Allenby and Peter Trego's fine knocks went in vain for Somerset as their 197/7 was easily hauled down by Kent's top-order. Kent won the game by eights wickets and 16 balls to spare.

Opting to bat first, Somerset made a superb statement with Allenby slamming 91 and Trego adding 57 in good time. In the 14th over, with Somerset on 143/1, the team had their sights set on a total in excess of 210. However, Kent came back strong with a barrage of wickets and restricted Somerset to 197. Fabian Cowdrey was the best bowler on view with 3 for 18.

In reply, Daniel Bell-Drummond slammed a brutal 47-ball 83 while Joe Denly chipped in with an equally brutal 38-ball 75 as Kent made easy work of the chase.

Brief scores: Somerset 197/7 (Jim Allenby 91, Peter Trego 57; Fabian Cowdrey 3-18) lost to Kent 200/2 (Daniel Bell-Drummond 83*, Joe Denly 75) by 8 wickets.

Gloucestershire vs Sussex

When rain started to ruin the game it looked like Sussex's hard work batting first would go in vain. However, the side escaped with a 1-run win via the DLS method to get their tournament off to a strong start.

Batting first, Sussex were boosted by solid contributions from the top three before Ross Taylor came into his own and slammed a superb unbeaten 93. The New Zealand batsman slammed four fours and eight sixes in a superlative 48-ball knock. The team amassed a 242/5 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Michael Klinger smashed 42 off 24 balls to give Gloucestershire a chance off pulling off an improbable win. But rain meant that they fell short by a solitary run.

Brief scores: Sussex 242/5 (Ross Taylor 93*, Ben Brown 43; Craig Miles 2-29) beat Gloucestershire 83/1 in 7.3 overs (Michael Klinger 42*) by 1 run (DLS method).

Essex vs Surrey

Azhar Mahmood played the perfect allrounder, slamming 42 off 22 balls and then taking 4 for 38 as Surrey beat Essex by eight runs.

Batting first, Surrey were in deep trouble at 77 for 5 before Azhar rescued them with an attacking knock. Tom Curran also played an important knock with 32 off 26 balls. Kumar Sangakkara was the lone batsman who showed some fight in the top order with a fine 32. Matthew Quinn picked up four wickets for his side.

With a competitive total in the bank, Azhar, Tom Curran and Sam Curran put in a vintage bowling display to bowl Essex out for 162 in the final over. Tom Westley top scored for the hosts with 46.

Brief scores: Surrey 170/8 (Azhar Mahmood 42, Kumar Sangakkara 32; Matthew Quinn 4-35) beat Essex (Tom Westley 46, Ryan ten Doeschate 36; Azhar Mahmood 4-38, Tom Curran 3-21) by 8 runs.
