This 7-year-old from Brookline is on LEGOLAND’s Creative Crew

Living the dream.

Engineers are entering the market at younger and younger ages.

At the ripe old age of 7, Brookline’s Liam Christ is already (symbolically) employed by LEGO. The first grader will soon be formally inducted into the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston Creative Crew, and thus be tasked with every child’s dream job: test and build new LEGOs.

Liam is one of 13 children across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine who were chosen to join the crew, according to a company press release. Parents and children in New England applied by answering the question, “How does LEGO inspire you?” 123 applicants sought the position this year, and Liam stood out.

“I think LEGOs inspire me because you can build them and break them and keep them and do whatever you want to do with them,” Liam said in his application video. “It’s not like if they’re glued. Because if they were, you couldn’t, like, break them.”

The LEGO fan is no stranger to building with the toy: A central part of his application was showing off his “LEGO City,” which he built on his bed with the help of his sister. It features a train, and is, as he puts it, “really good.”

Liam’s new job responsibilities as a Creative Crew member will include: helping build and test new models, attending special events, serving as a LEGOLAND junior ambassador, and serving on a “kid panel,” giving fellow LEGO fans tips on how to make the most of their trip to the Boston Discovery Center.

Basically, he’s a LEGO expert, and he’s living out the average first grader’s biggest dream.

The contest launched March 24 and ran through Sunday, April 24, according to the press release. The new members of the creative panel will be inducted on June 5.
