MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The decision to commence the process of inclusion of India and Pakistan as member states in the organization was made during the July SCO summit in the Russian city of Ufa.
"The discussion on expanding the SCO, before all, the course of procedures of admitting India and Pakistan to the organization, will take a special place. Active work to fully involve these countries in the organization’s activity is taking place in accordance with the decisions of the SCO Ufa summit in 2015," the statement read.
The SCO is a political, economic and military alliance comprising Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
