ISSF Munich World Cup: Injured Gagan to skip 10m air rifle
PUNE: Abhinav Bindra had missed the 10m air rifle final of the Rio World Cup by just half a point last month. However, the Beijing Olympics gold medallist will look to return with a medal when he takes the 10m air rifle range in ISSF Munich World Cup on Saturday.
Bindra, who has been training hard with his technical coach Heinz Reinkemeier, had recently won bronze in Hannover's International tournament.
Though the field at Munich will be stronger than Hannover, a medal before the Rio Olympics will be good for his confidence.
Meanwhile, London 2012 bronze medallist Gagan Narang will not shoot in the 10m event as well as 50m 3 position, as he is nursing his injured heel. "I have a minor injury in my heel, but it will be back to normal soon. As I want to nurse it, I will shoot only in the 50m prone event in Munich," Gagan told TOI.
Another Indian, Chain Singh, will compete with Bindra in the 10m event. The Army shooter had clinched the Rio quota in 50m 3position event, but he has been shooting well in the air event too.
In the women's section, Apurvi Chandela, Ayonika Paul and Pooja Ghatkar will compete in the women's 10m air rifle category.
