Architectural models on display at SEDA

Vadodara: A sports complex at M S University's (MSU) pavilion and an improved street market of Benaras were some of the major attractions at the fifth annual display by students of Navrachana University's (NU) School of Environmental Design and Architecture (SEDA) that kicked off on Thursday.
The display includes exhibition of works by students from architecture and interior design.

"We had to come up with innovative designs based on various issues and topics given to us. We also had to undergo a workshop before making the designs," said Meen Purohit, a third-year architecture student.
Darshil Patliya, another third-year architecture student, has created sketches of the design of a sports complex for MSU that is spacious enough to accommodate indoor as well as outdoor games. The first and second year students have also developed models of various buildings such as studios, historical monuments, residential and restaurants.
Inspired from the architectural design of a step well in Pavagadh, Chirag Chaudhary has drafted a sketch of public research centre in the shape of the step-well that houses three laboratories, exhibition and public centres.
The design was developed as part of their deconstruction project. "The students have tried to address the basic problems of the street market. They have come up with viable solutions that will cater to their issues such as spacing, improving their lifestyle and improving social ties with various communities," said Gurudev Singh, dean of the SEDA.
