Mysore: Kannada film actor and national Bala Shree award winner Adithya Bharadwaj has called upon children to transcend boundaries to succeed in life.
He also recited a line of Kuvempu's poem ‘O nanna Chethana …' at the inaugural of Children Kala Utsav, the three-day state-level festival that began at Rangayana here on Friday. Children from across the state are participating in the festival.
National Bal Shree awardees S Adish, Ankitha Kishorechandra, Anaga C, Supreeth S and Adakshith were felicitated on the occasion.
S Adish, a special child, said such felicitations inspire special children to make it big. He had won the award for drawing under creative arts category. Adish, II semester computer science student at JSS Polytechnic for Differently Abled, was honoured by HRD minister Smriti Irani in February. "All of us have talent. But some special kids hesitate to mingle in groups, and feel neglected." He is also a national-level chess player.
Chaman B Naganoor, secretary of Bal Bhavan Society (Bengaluru), said children must be encouraged to make the best use of waste. "It must be turned into creative crafts and arts. Rural children must be given exposure in extra-curricular activities ..." he added.
MCC chief C G Betsurmuth said such activities must be introduced to children at a young age. ""There is a lot for adults to learn from children," he said.
