Saturday morning

Visit Alberobello, the Unesco world heritage site in the heart of the Itria Valley, where the town is dotted with trulli, the distinctive conical architecture of the area.

Saturday afternoon

Between 1pm and 6pm, Puglia still takes a siesta and most places are closed, but a short drive away from Alberobello is the quaint hilltop village of Locorotondo, where you can enjoy a light lunch of mozzarella and friselle at Docks 101 with a view of the entire valley. Then book a wine tasting at I Pàstini’s delightful vineyard; ipastini.it/en.

Saturday night

Visit Ostuni, the White City, where you can see the cathedral with its rose glass window and frescoes dating from the 15th century. Enjoy an aperitivo at Coffee and More before heading for dinner at Osteria del Tempo Perso. Finish the evening with cocktails at Evo and a dance at Riccardo Caffè, a club inside a cave.

Sunday morning

Drive along the coast to Polignano a Mare, where you can swim in crystal-clear water before a seafood lunch at Chichicibo – try pasta with sea urchins, a Pugliese delicacy.
