Bhopal: Doctors at Rewa Medical College are yet to restore vision of a 40-year-old man whose eyes were glued shut by his wife on Wednesday night.
Ophthalmologists treating him say though the adhesive has not caused crucial damage to his eyesight, his eyelids are closed. It might take two more days to remove the glue completely. The incident was reported from Kariya village in Rewa district on Thursday from where the victim, Santosh Vishvakarma, 39, was referred to Rewa Medical College & Hospital by neighbours.
His wife, Vijay Laxmi, is on the run after the incident. Sources said money was the cause of feud.
They were reeling under severe financial crisis and Santosh's income as a carpenter was inadequate to meet their daily expenses. On Wednesday, sparks flew after a verbal exchange. Santosh, who was drunk at that time, allegedly thrashed his wife and 10-year-old daughter. She waited till Santosh fell asleep. Around 1 am, she pasted glue on his eyes and went to sleep. On Thursday morning, when Santosh could not open his eyes, he called his wife for help, but she did not respond.
