Fish in holy spring of Martand safe: Trust

JAMMU, May 20: Shri Martand Tirath Trust today said that the ailing fish in the holy spring of Martand were saved due to the timely intervention of Minister of R&B, Abdul Rehman Veeri as well as Fisheries Department.
In a statement issued here today, the president of the Trust Ashok Sidha said the prompt action of the department not only saved the fist but also removed the water infection which was very dangerous for biotic as well as  a biotic species.
He said the team of Fisheries Department led by Joint Director Pandita and assisted by Mr Tak, Sadiq and Padder camped at the holy place to provide the timely medicines to ailing fish and changed feed to make it possible to save the fish from infection.
He said dozens of fish died in the month of March and April due to water infection  and not in May as the infection has been controlled fully by now.
Sidha said he along with his team approached the authorities of Fisheries Department who took immediate action. He said Minster of R&B Abdul Rehman Veeri along with Director of Fisheries and his team visited the shrine and initiated timely action.
Sidha said that free langer for the holy Kheer Bhawani and Amarnath yatris has been started in the shrine.
