BOSTON, May 20 (UPI) -- Could Arian Foster be the next former All-Pro to revive his career in Foxborough?

Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reported Friday that the New England Patriots have "preliminary" interest in the oft-injured 29-year-old running back.

Foster once again had his season cut short in 2015, after rushing 63 times for 163 yards and scoring three touchdowns. The unsigned free agent has also been linked to the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks. Foster, who tore his Achilles last season, told Cole in March that he wont sign anywhere until he is "completely healthy."

Foster has started all 16 games in a season just once in his seven-year career. He last led the NFL in rushing in 2010, with 1,616 yards and 16 touchdowns, as a member of the Houston Texans. Foster has played in just 25 of 48 regular season games in the last three seasons.

The Patriots used a running-back-by-committee approach last season. LeGarrette Blount led the team with 703 rushing yards and six touchdowns, while Dion Lewis proved to be the more dynamic running back. In seven games last season, Lewis rushed for 234 yards and two scores, while netting 36 receptions, for 388 yards and two touchdowns.
