A team of the Aam Aadmi Party led by MP Bhagwant Singh Mann inspected the reconstructed Lambi minor (sub-canal) today and expressed concern over breaches in the floor bed and walls on the first day of trial here. Party members interacted with farmers who had faced 63-day suspension of water for irrigation and drinking.
Bhagwant has sought an inquiry into the incident. Speaking at a meeting in Pattisadiq village, Bhagwant said the “substandard” construction had exposed a nexus between officials and politically backed contractors. “What kind of a sewa are Badals doing for people? SAD leaders will realise soon that it is no more possible to fool people claiming unprecedented development through their cable TV network,” he said.
Mann said AAP would raise the issue of scarcity of water in the region in the next session of Lok Sabha. He said he was surprised to know that two-time SAD MP Sher Singh Ghubaya had not visited most of the villages even once after his election.
