Navi Mumbai: An 18-year-old girl (name withheld on request by Vashi GRP) residing in Nerul died after she allegedly fell off a moving train in which she was travelling from Nerul to Sanpada on the Harbour line. However, the Vashi GRP is now investigating a suicide angle as a note has been found in her purse highlighting her state of mind. Due to the fall, she sustained severe head injuries and was declared brought dead at a private hospital in Nerul.
The incident occurred on Friday around 1.30 pm.
Vashi GRP’s senior inspector Nitin Bobade said, “The girl was unable to pursue BSc and had joined tailoring classes. She stayed with her familyIt is not yet confirmed if the girl committed suicide, as it is possible that she may have accidentally fallen off. However, we have found a letter in Marathi from her purse which she had addressed to her mother. She wrote that she was sorry for not being able to fulfill her parents’ expectations and that she could not complete her studies. She has also stated that she was depressed as her mother was unable to understand her sentiments. Though, the letter reveals the girl’s emotions related to some domestic issue, she has not mentioned anywhere that she was ending her life by committing suicide.”
Inspector Bobade said, “ We had summoned the girl’s parents who have stated that they do not have any complaint to lodge. But, further investigation will reveal whether it is a suicide case or an accident due to fall from train. Prima facie, we have registered an accidental death report.”
