Villeneuve: Rosberg's move was '100 percent wrong' in Spain

Former F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve believes Nico Rosberg was to blame for the collision between the Mercedes drivers at Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix.

Rosberg and team-mate Lewis Hamilton took each other out of the race after colliding on the opening lap of the Spanish Grand Prix. Hamilton was attempting to pass Rosberg on the inside at Turn 4, but ran out of space as Rosberg closed the gap.

The stewards ruled that it was a racing incident, but Villeneuve is in no doubt as to who should be blamed.

"You never saw it in the '80s because they'd kill each other. Now the drivers think they are in a video game," Villeneuve told the Mirror.

"It's the one thing you never do. You can ask if Lewis should have been so aggressive but if you want to blame someone it's 100 percent Nico. He moved when Lewis had already made his move. You don't do that, it's why there is a rule in place It's the most dangerous thing you can do in racing - and the unfairest.

"From that point of view he was 100 per cent wrong."
