Jarryd Hayne in Fiji squad for London Sevens

Jarryd Hayne has been named in Fiji's squad for the London Sevens following his retirement from the NFL in the U.S.

The former Australian rugby league player, who won two Dally M Medals in the NRL, announced last week that he was leaving the San Francisco 49ers after just one season to pursue his dream of competing with Fiji at the Olympics this summer.

Fiji coach Ben Ryan left the 28-year-old out of his initial squad for this weekend's tournament at Twickenham but after arriving on Monday, Hayne has been fast-tracked into the 12-man squad.

World Rugby confirmed last week that former Eels superstar Hayne will not be barred from Olympic contention by drug testing rules.

Australian forward Jesse Parahi, who started the year with the Wests Tigers in the NRL but has since returned to Sevens Rugby, told Sky Sports Radio this week that Hayne was facing a baptism of fire.

"Six months out of the game and I'm feeling like I fell behind quite a bit, so I think it'll be pretty tough for Jarryd moving forward," Parahi said.

"(Sevens) is a completely different beast to the NRL and more so the NFL.

"It's really short but you're left on your feet for 14 minutes."

Fiji, the No.1 ranked team in the world, face England, Wales and Australia in Pool B at Twickenham with potentially three more finals matches.

This weekend's tournament in London is the last on this season's World Series circuit. A quarterfinal place will secure the series title for Fiji, who have won three of the nine rounds to date.
