A family of a senior Kenyan military officer is seeking justice at the Malindi law courts for the sudden death of their son under unclear circumstances at Medina Palms hotel in Watamu in July 26 last year while on holiday.

Jimmy Baburam, a businessman and son of Brigadier David Baburan, reportedly drowned while on holiday with his wife at the hotel but the family suspect he was murdered.

An inquest file was opened and police are investigating.

Key suspects in the inquest are Baburam's wife Amina Yakub and an American by the name Jacob Will who is allegedly Yakub’s lover.

The magistrate set the inquest hearing date on June 23 and 24.
