Trouble brewing in HD 150 over religious litmus test

There’s a storm brewing in Texas House District 150. Community sources tell yours truly of well-respected persons expressing deep regret over the election of the Republican primary winner in that race. The Republican primary winner’s been heard telling other staunch Republicans that a Terry Lowry-style Religious Litmus Test should be applied to the process of selecting vacant Republican precinct chairs.

Did the chief priests and out-of-district donors not vet the candidate they backed & funded in that race? Did they choose poorly?

Publicly advocating for a religious litmus test as a condition of holding elected office did not turn out well for the man who challenged Tom Mechler for Chair of the Republican Party of Texas.

Publicly advocating to prevent a Muslim man from serving as a precinct chair in the Harris County Republican Party on the basis of his religion was met with a thunderous “NAY” vote when the motion to remove him from the committee report was presented to the body earlier this week.

Didn’t the HD 150 Republican primary winners hero Senator Ted Cruz recount —on numerous occasions I might add—that Article VI of the U.S. Constitution forbids a religious test for holding a governmental position? Did she not learn ANYTHING while in other states campaigning for Cruz?

What will the voters of HD 150 do between now and November Election Day? Will they promote a “Skip the HD 150” vote? Will they choose wisely?
