Dubbed Zimbabwe’s superstar with 63 albums under his belt, Oliver Mtukudzi is set to add another release to his discography. With its launch set for June, “Eheka Nhai Yahwe” is likely to enhance the musician’s status as a living legend. He last released “Mukombe Wemvura” in 2014 and the album was well received by music lovers.As his fans await the upcoming album like rains in a dry spell, Mtukudzi has announced that he will start sampling the songs at his live shows.

He will start sampling the tracks at Harare International Conference Centre at a gig to be held next Tuesday when he shares the stage with Alick Macheso.

Some of the songs from the coming album that will be played on the night include “Matsimba”, “Shanje”, “Inungo”, “Bhiza” and “Ndinetsva”.

Dubbed “Africa Day Eve”, the gig will be a clash of giants.

Tungamirai Simango a representative of Tuku music said preparations for the gig were at an advanced stage.

“Dr Mtukudzi always gives his best when it comes to albums and live performances. His album will say it all,” he said.

Though Simango could not divulge more on the album, he said Tuesday will be the best day when people will hear the new songs.

“That is one of the shows where people will have a chance to listen to the new songs ahead of the launch that will be held next month,” he said.

For years Mtukudzi has managed to keep music lovers close to his music with songs that reflect on various social issues.

It is yet to be seen if the coming album manage to surpass the levels that have been set by his previous albums.

Simango said they were happy that they have organised a joint show with Macheso who released his album “Tsoka Dzerwendo” recently.

“Macheso is the man of the moment and his album is being played in most public places and for the two musicians to share stage on the eve of such an important day is something that fun-loving people should cherish,” he said.

Tich Makahamadze, who is Macheso publicist, said it will yet be another chance for people to witness the return of guitarist Noel Nyazanda, Jonasi Kasamba and Obert Gomba.

The trio left the group three years ago and their return has brought moral to the camp.
