SRINAGAR, May 19: Director General of Police, (DGP) K. Rajendra Kumar today reviewed the functioning of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and said that transparency and quality should be given due care in procurement of stores and their distribution for the welfare of the police personnel.
He was reviewing the progress on various projects and administrative issues at a meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. He said that timely completion of a project ensures transparency and delivery at the proper level, besides curbing wastage of time and manpower.
While discussing administrative matters, DGP said that timely distribution of uniform and other items should be monitored by the supervisory officers to ensure transparency in the system. Procurement of quality equipments and gadgets should also be supervised at all levels to enhance the proficiencies and capabilities of concerned units.
The DGP emphasised that facilities for police housing colonies and other working places should be enhanced by providing required amenities for the welfare of police personnel and their families. He said medical facilities for police besides education of police wards in police public schools will be further streamlined.
He said Police Department gives equal importance to sports and cultural activities across the State in order to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and cultural values among the youth of the State. He said that martyrs memorial football tournament, water sports, marathon and cycling and some other events would be held in the summer capital this year also. Besides educational sports camp, High Altitude Sports awareness camps at Sonamag, Yousmarg, Bani Basohli and Udhampur would be part of this year’s sports calendar.
Rajendra asked the officers to gear up activities under Civic Action Programme benefitting common people, particularly the youth and under privileged sections of the society. He emphasised to undertake the projects, which could benefit people in better way and help in strengthening relations with the public.
Among others, the meeting was attended by IGP Technical Services, AIGPs, and Dy.SP (Sports) and other police officers.
