Punjab: Akali Dal councillor Kamaljit Singh Karwal held

Akali Dal councillor Kamaljit Singh Karwal was among twelve persons arrested by the police in Simlapuri area Thursday for protesting over school fee hike with the parents of students studying in Harkrishan Public School.

The parents tried locking the gates of the school campus and were arrested for apprehension of breach of peace and tranquility of an area under Section 107/151 of CrPC.

Karwal had shown his support for the parents and had joined the protest on Thursday.

Following the arrest, the protesters were produced in court where Karwal refused to file bail application.
Karwal said that he will continue to struggle for the parents who were demanding lowering of school fees.
