Someshwar MLA Rekha Arya has said she will join the BJP soon. “I didn’t want to join the BJP along with Congress rebels as my issues are different. I want myself to be treated differently from the rebels,” she said.
Rekha, while talking to this correspondent over phone today, said, “The nine rebels have joined the BJP but I have returned home. I don’t want to be counted as a newcomer along with the nine rebels.”
Asked why she left the Congress, she replied that the party leadership had assured her of Cabinet berth before she joined the Congress but the Chief Minister “neglected and underestimated” her capability. “The Chief Minister allocated funds to neighbouring Assembly constituencies of Jageswar, Salt, Almora and Ranikhet but deliberately neglected my constituency,” she alleged.
The Someshwar MLA said, “Harish Rawat gave red beacons to several people in other constituencies but didn’t do so for anyone in Someshwar. Even when an international school was opened in my Assembly constituency in Nainisar, he did not call me to participate in any programme. I should have got a chance to inaugurate the school.”
Rekha said she felt ashamed to be a part of the Congress when she learnt that Harish Rawat wanted to purchase his own party MLAs to save his government.
