A three-day escape to Capri is a perfect aperitivo before continuing on to other Italian locales.

The Italian Isle in the Bay of Naples has been a luxe getaway destination for centuries from Tiberius the Roman emperor to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis with its gorgeous Mediterranean views of the Amalfi Coast. Over the next few weeks on The Huffington Post, I'll take you on my top picks from my past few jaunts to Capri. Expect to discover design-centric spots to Scout, foodie havens to Savour, unique properties to Slumber, what to wear where for Style and trinkets to take home for Souvenirs.

But first, why Capri? Like any other lauded destination, Capri has a reputation of beauty because of the talented and famous personalities it has inspired. Artists like August Kopisch, a German painter and writer, rediscovered the Blue Grotto with friends during the 19th century (left). American master painter of portraiture, John Singer Sargent, has also been inspired by the beautiful people of Capri (right). Capri's beauty is so bewildering that it entices one like the narrator Wilson of The Lotus Eater by W. Somerset Maugham to give up a material life and spend the rest of one's days near the enchanting relics of the Faraglioni rocks overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The exotic life and beauty of Capri has also drawn in ethereal composers like Claude Debussy who was so enchanted by its hills, he wrote a song about it called "Les collines d'Anacapri". Close your eyes and listen as concert pianist Lang Lang helps you escape to the Isle of Capri.

When visiting Villa San Michele, "Legend holds that if you rest your left hand on the sphinx and make a wish while looking out over the Sea of Capri, your wish will come true." Capri promises to realize your wishes, so make them count!

Wear What Where: Capri

When traveling to chic Capri, join the glitterati jet-set in my boho Aime is reversible 8-way Zoe Dress in Fleur / Bold Blue to match the Azure sea! And don our reversible Audrey Turban a la Audrey Hepburn and soak in the sun. Below I've shared my picks of how to go from day to night in the reversible Zoe. Wear it with the deep-V in the front over your favorite bikini with jeweled flats (or get a pair of Capri sandals custom-made by one of the local artisans). Then once the sun goes down, reverse the dress front to back and inside-out as a low-back bold blue dress with a brightly-colored heel. You'll be ready to dance the night away in one of the island's many lounges.
