Sessions court grants pre-arrest bail to a Mumbai developer
MUMBAI: A Sessions Judge D K Bhende at Dindoshi in Mumbai, granted interim protection against arrest to Santosh Sawant, a real estate developer in a criminal intimidation case in connection with land allotment for lower income group housing.
After hearing Sawant’s lawyer Kanishk Jayant, the court granted him anticipatory bail of Rs 10,000 and directed him to report to the police station between 1pm and 5pm on Friday for interrogation and to not meet or pressurise the complainant and hand over his cell phone to the police if required.

The Mumbai suburban collector had allotted a 308 sq meter plot in Borivli to Shree Swami Samarth cooperative housing society. The society decided to grant development rights to Sawant’s construction firm.
His lawyer argued that the kandivli police registered a "hasty false and frivolous" of intimidation and causing hurt in an “alleged scuffle’’ against Sawant recently, filed by a person, who is not connected with the society.
The court sought a reply from the police and posted the matter for further hearing on June 16.
