Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Deesa hottest with record 48 degree Celsius

Amid unprecedented heat, the rise in temperatures continued in many parts of Gujarat and created a new record of maximum temperature of 48 degree Celsius for Ahmedabad, Capital city Gandhinagar and north Gujarat town of Deesa.

Ahmedabad with around 6.1 degree above normal temperature along with the other two places remained hottest in the state during last 24 hours. All the three places have seen a rise of around one degree in maximum temperatures as compared to yesterday. Ahmedabad had recorded maximum temperature of 46.9 Deesa 46.7 and Gandhinagar 47 degree Celsius yesterday.
The sever heat wave warning of the met department has been prolonged for one more day. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has also continued its red level alert and warning.

A 60 year old man from Vejalpur area in Ahmedabad died of complications caused by heat stroke taking the total number of such deaths in the city to 4 this summer. The toll across the state this season has risen reportedly to 15 with maximum five reported from Kutch district. Three such deaths including that of a policeman have been reported from Rajkot while two from Bhavnagar district. One death has been reported from Banaskantha district.

The met department bulletin read severe heat wave warning for another 24 hours in parts of North Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch.
