Council polls: Four candidates file nominations

Sitting MLC and senior JD(S) leader Basavaraj S. Horatti filed his nomination seeking re-election from the Karnataka West Teachers’ constituency here on Thursday.

BJP’s rebel candidate R.M. Kuberappa, president of Karnataka State School and College Teachers’ Association, also filed his nomination as an independent candidate from the same constituency.

JD(S) candidate Shivalingappa Shivarudrappa of Gokak and Shirnik Jangate of Karunadu Party filed their nominations for Karnataka North-West Teachers’ and North-West Graduates’ constituencies respectively.

With the nominations of four candidates today, a total of 14 candidates have filed nominations to contest the legislative council elections from the three constituencies in the north Karnataka districts.
