Steven Ma to direct and star in new stage play
19 May - Hong Kong actor Steven Ma recently revealed what he has been up to since his last TVB drama – writing the script for his upcoming stage play, "By Chance: Xu Zhimo".
As reported on Oriental Daily news, the actor, who started writing the script more than six months ago, stated that he was nearly in tears after finally completing the script.
"I started writing in in November 2015. I kept questioning myself if I would be able to finish it since then. Now that it is completed, I just can't help but feel moved," he said.
The play is based on the life of Xu Zhimo, an early 20th century poet from Zhejiang and his love affairs with three women – Zhang Youyi, Lin Huiyin, and Lu Xiaoman.
Steven revealed that in addition to the script, he will also be directing and starring in the play.
However, the actor has yet to cast one of his leading ladies who will play the role of Lin Huiyin. As for the actresses who will play the other two women, Steven said that it will be kept secret for the time being.
"By Chance: Xu Zhimo" will be staged in November.
