Two persons belonging to Kotegowdana village in Chamarajanagar taluk, who took ill after drinking contaminated water and were undergoing treatment at the KR Hospital in Mysuru, died on Wednesday.

Chamarajanagar: Two persons belonging to Kotegowdana village in Chamarajanagar taluk, who took ill after drinking contaminated water and were undergoing treatment at the KR Hospital in Mysuru, died on Wednesday.
On May 8, some people in the village consumed water through a leaking pipe and complained of vomiting and diarrhea. On Tuesday late night, Chikkathayamma, 40, who was undergoing treatment at KR Hospital since May 8 suffered acute renal failure due to severe dehydration and died.

Kenchshetty, 65, who was admitted to KR Hospital on Saturday died on Wednesday due to similar complications. Chikkathayamma was working as an Anganawadi helper in the village. Confirming the deaths Chamarajanagar DHO Dr Panduvijayan said, "The bereaved family members have demanded compensation and proper drinking water facility in the village. The gram panchayat gave Rs 5,000 to each of the families to conduct the funeral. We will try do our best to provide more compensation to the family members."
