E-way oustees warn Huda of contempt plea
Gurgaon: Residents of New Palam Vihar, who will be displaced by the Dwarka expressway, held another protest outside the Huda office on Wednesday and have threatened to file a contempt motion against the development authority in the Punjab and Haryana high court if the allotment of alternative plots is delayed any further.
The protesters also opposed the idea of alternative plots in Sector 37C, saying that the high court had ordered Huda to give them plots in Sector 110A one year ago.
The development of Sector 110A has been stuck because of land acquisition hurdles, after the landowners there raised objections against the changes made to the layout plan of the sector without consulting them.
The oustees have been protesting against the delay for the past one month and on April 29 had even locked the Huda office from outside.
Huda administrator Yashpal Yadav met the protesters and assured them that alternative plots would be given in the next three months, if there is no stay order from the court. "We are trying to resolve the issues related to Sector 110A. We are also ready to consider the concerns of landowners provided they are genuine," he said.
The oustees, however, said Huda does not have a concrete roadmap for the plot allotments and seeks a new date every time. "Every few months, the Huda administrator is transferred and it affects the rehabilitation process. We have to start all over again with the new administrator. We are just moving in circles and no significant development has been made in the past one year," said Pravin Mehra, one of the protesters.
As many as 528 houses at New Palam Vihar, Tekchand Nagar and Kherki Daula will be demolished to construct the Dwarka expressway. According to the plan, all the oustees will be rehabilitated by Huda, which will allot alternative plots in sectors 110A and 37C.
