Romario Lewin Jr dedicated to God

Last Sunday will long be remembered by Vanessa and Romario Lewin of Bullocks, Clarendon.

It was the day on which they brought their son, Romario Lewin Jr, to Bishop Donald Dawson at the Sanguinetti New Testament Church of God to be dedicated to the Lord.

With the young father holding his son, the two parents concentrated as they digested every word of instruction given by Bishop Dawson. He informed them that they should do everything to ensure Romario is properly trained in the way of the Lord.

He reminded them that the family is a divine institution, ordained and honoured of God, since the beginning of time and that children are a heritage of the Lord, given to parents for their care, protection and training for His glory.

Dawson instructed the parents to provide a Christian home and a Godly environment for their son, see to it that as soon as he is able to learn the Christian faith and the nature of the Christian life, that he is trained to give reverend attendance to the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, and is led to the love of God.

The parents pledged to bring up Romario in the fear of the Lord, lead him early to Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour and set before him examples of a Godly and consistent life.

Mrs Lewin told Life and Times that she felt overjoyed following the christening, because she strongly believes her son is covered under the blood of Jesus Christ.

"I was feeling scared before he was christened, because he was not yet dedicated to the Lord and anything can happen. Believe me, I was really scared," said Mrs Lewin.

The young father pledged to do all that a father is expected to do, to ensure that Romario grows up to be a good child.

"I am going to make sure that my son grows up in the church. I will make sure that he attends church regularly, attends Sunday school; and I will do what the Bible says when it instructs us to train up our children in the way they should go, so that when they get old they will not depart from it," promised Lewin.

Reverend Dawson, in his prayer of dedication, called on God to provide Romario's parents with resources, to provide the necessary things to help in his development; and asked God to send angels to protect them and their son when they go out and when they come in.

He also called on God to bless everything Romario will consume and to bless him with wisdom, knowledge and understanding so that when he starts to attend school he will progress well.

Romario, who weighed eight pounds and 9 ounces when born at the Mandeville Hospital in Manchester on November 25, 2015, was the fourth baby to be christened at the church since January. Last year, nine babies were christened there.
