Patiala: A Rajpura resident on Wednesday met the Patiala senior superintendent of police (SSP) with a complaint that her house was set on fire by her neighbours and the police had allegedly cancelled the FIR. After receiving the complaint, SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan has directed the Rapura police to re-investigate the matter and other cases involving her family.
Rajpura SP Rajinder Singh Sohal told TOI that he would monitor the probeas the case involved a woman and her three daughters.
"The incident of setting the complainant's house on fire would be reinvestigated," he added.
The complainant said in her statement that while her house was set on fire on August 13, 2015, two of her daughters were allegedly raped in 2012 and 2013. She further alleged that police did not act properly in sexual assault case.
She told the SSP that in 2012 her 13-year-old daughter was allegedly raped by three men and she had complained to the police to register a rape case. However, a case of molestation was reportedly filed against the accused, who were convicted to 3 years' prison.
The woman told the top cop that her house was allegedly torched by her neighbours. She said, "The neighbours were aggrieved that their 18-year-old daughter had eloped with a boy but the case was registered against my son. However, the girl in question returned to her parents after three months accompanied by another boy but my son continues to be in jail for a crime he never committed."
