Naveen declares birthday of Raghunath Murmu a holiday

BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday declares birthday of noted Santali poet Pandit Raghunath Murmu as optional holiday in the state government calendar.
Naveen also directed the state culture department to celebrate the birth anniversary of Murmu in a grand manner every year on May 5.
Murmu is known as the inventor of the ‘Ol Chiki’ script used in Santali language.Earlier, the state government announced to name the proposed medical college and hospital at Baripada in Mayurbhanj in the name of Murmu.
