In a series of posts on Twitter, actor Rishi Kapoor has taken on the Gandhi family, slamming them for naming many properties and assets in India after them. In a fierce attack on the Gandhis, Kapoor tweeted, “We must name important assets of the country who have contributed to society. Har cheez Gandhi ke naam? I don’t agree. Sochna log!”
“Change Gandhi family assets named by Congress.Bandra/Worli Sea Link to Lata Mangeshkar or JRD Tata link road. Baap ka maal samjh rakha tha?” he asked. “If roads in Delhi can be changed why not Congress assets/property ke naam? Was in Chandigarh wahan bhi Rajeev Gandhi assets? Socho? Why?” Kapoor lashed out.

In support of Kapoor’s views, actor Anupam Kher said, “Why should everything be named after a particular family surname – that’s all Rishi Kapoor has asked. Anybody who talks about a thought process that is in national interest, we ridicule it.”
Kapoor had in his tweets suggested, “Film City should be named Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Ashok Kumar ya Amitabh Bachchan ke naam? Rajeev Gandhi udyog Kya hota hai? Socho doston!” “Imagine Mohamad Rafi Mukesh Manna Dey Kishore Kumar venues on their name like in our country. Just a suggestion.”
Further taking on the Gandhi family, he added, “Why Indira G airport International ? Why not Mahatma Gandhi or Bhagat Singh Ambedkar or on my name Rishi Kapoor. As superficial! What say?”

This is not the first time that the actor has courted controversy with his tweets. Kapoor has been vocal about his views on beef ban and has also bashed singer Abhijeet for his ‘bizarre Twitter posts’ in support of Salman Khan.
Kapoor is also extremely active on Twitter – sharing his opinions about current affairs and updates about his personal life along with family matters.
Kapoor’s attack on Gandhis comes after Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh asked the government to rename Akbar Road, also in Lutyens’ Delhi, as Maharana Pratap Road.
