Red alert in Ahmedabad for next two days

The extreme heat wave condition in the city is likely to prevail for the next couple of days. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday issued red alert cautioning the citizens to stay indoors to avoid heat stroke.

Ahmedabad: The extreme heat wave condition in the city is likely to prevail for the next couple of days. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday issued red alert cautioning the citizens to stay indoors to avoid heat stroke.
Mercury shot up to 45 degree Celsius on Tuesday and is likely to hover under 45 degree Celsius on Wednesday and Thursday, said a statement from AMC.
It also said that the temperature is likely to dip to 44 degree Celsius on Saturday.
The heat took its toll on four people of the city who were admitted to the AMC-run VS hospital on Tuesday. These patients include Mohammed Taheer Sheikh (27) from Dariyapur, Dinaben Parmar (58) from Astodia, Devuben Kanaiyalal (60) from Vejalpur and Amarji Prabhuji (60) from Behrampura.
Apart from the city, Ishwarbhai Bhramaniya (45) from Fulgram village of Vadhvan Taluka of Surendranagar district was also admitted to VS hospital. According to sources, condition of Amarji and Ishwarbhai is critical and they have been admitted in ICU of the hospital. As per the data of 108 EMRI, as many as 2,810 cases of heat-related emergencies were reported in the city from May 1 to 16.
