ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday expressed serious concern over the violation of United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC’s) resolutions on Kashmir by India and its efforts to introduce a controversial ‘Geospatial Information Regulation Bill’ in the Indian parliament. Pakistan’s concern has been conveyed to the UN secretary general and UNSC president through letters by its permanent representative in New York, said a statement of the Foreign Office Spokesman. “In violation of UNSC resolutions, the official map of India has been depicting the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir as part of India which is factually incorrect and legally untenable,” it said. Through the passage of this bill, the Indian government would penalise the individuals and organisations who depict Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory as per the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions. The letter also called upon the United Nations to uphold the UNSC resolutions and urged India to stop such acts which were in violation of international laws.
