HSC results: Vadodara registers 80.51% passing percentage

Vadodara registered a passing percentage of 80.51 in the HSc science stream examination of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), the results of which were declared on Tuesday.

Vadodara: Vadodara registered a passing percentage of 80.51 in the HSc science stream examination of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), the results of which were declared on Tuesday.
Although the pass percentage in the city was higher compared to state average which stood at 79.03 % -- there was over nine percent reduction in the pass percentage compared to 2015 when the city had registered 89.71 passing percent.

A total of 7,623 students had registered for the examinations of whom 7,444 appeared and 5,993 cleared it securing 'D' and above grade.
While 79 students passed with A1 grade, 516 students cleared the exams with A2 grade. Similarly, 785 students secured B1 grade, 1,068 B2 grade while 1,470 and 1,630 students secured C1 and C2 grades respectively. There were 444 students who secured D grade while only one student received E1. A total of 1,451 students were marked as needs improvement (NI).
In spite of registering an impressive pass percentage, the city ranked way below in the list of districts with highest passing percentage in the state. Rajkot, for instance, topped the chart with 93.83 percent while other districts like Ahmedabad, Botad and Morbi also scored above 90 percent.
Nonetheless, the results spread cheers for many families. Dr Jayesh Shah was brimming with pride after his son Keshav, a student of Fatehgunj-based Shannen School, scored 299 out of 300 marks in the last semester with 99.98 percentile in both science and overall theory.

"Also, he has scored 116.25 marks in GUJCET. Now, he will join his two sisters - Ritu and Ruchi - who are already pursuing their post-graduation studies from Baroda Medical College to turn our family into one full of doctors," said Shah.
Vinit Zinzuwadia, another student who scored 99.98 percentile, aims to become computer science engineer. "I am preparing hard for that," said Vinit, whose father Bhupat, works as lab assistant at M S University and mother Hasumati is housewife.
Riya Shah, a student of Baroda High School, Alkapuri made her parents proud with 99.86 percentile. "I am now preparing hard for JEE (advanced) and want to pursue computer science or IT, preferably from IITs," said Riya, whose father Hemendra works with BSNL while mother Bela is a senior lecturer at the district institute of education and training.
"I am very happy with the results. I want to pursue MBBS and later become a surgeon," said Janki Shah, daughter of businessman father Umeshkumar and homemaker Hetalben. As a student of Parth School, she made her parents proud with 99.82 percentile with A1 grade.
