Dhanbad: The Coal Mining Teachers Association staged a day-long dharna outside Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) headquarters gate on Tuesday to demand pending salaries.
The association also demanded a new education policy on a par with the railways, Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
President C D Singh said, "BCCL spends crores on education, but teachers have not been paid salaries for five months.
Our grievances are not addressed".
Director (personnel) of BCCL, B K Panda, told media that salaries would be disbursed soon. "Authorities will consider the association's other demands," said Panda.
