Hyderabad: The progress on the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation project will henceforth be monitored weekly, the government said on Tuesday.
A committee headed by the principal secretary of the irrigation and command area development departments was set up by the government and tasked with conducting a weekly review of the project's aimed at irrigating 10 lakh acres in Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts progress.
The project at an estimated cost of Rs 35,250 crore is also designed to augment drinking water and industrial needs in the city and its surrounding areas.
The foundation stone for the project was laid by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on June 11, 2015 with a promise to complete it in four years.
