Graft charge against Anand Joshi: CBI to scan ministry’s FCRA files, quiz officials

CBI sources said the agency could examine Joshi’s colleagues and superiors. The agency is also planning to question NGOs whose files have been recovered from Joshi’s house or those who are suspected to have come in contact with the official. The list includes NGOs that were sent notices by Joshi without the knowledge of his superiors.

On Tuesday, sources said, CBI officials visited the FCRA wing of the Home Ministry to look for records related to the case.

“We will take into our possession whatever file is relevant to our case. We will scrutinise them to see if favours were granted to any NGO as there is an allegation that Joshi accepted money to extend such favours. We will also try to find if anyone else is involved,” said a CBI source.

The agency has alleged that the files of organisations like Care India, Snehalya Charitable Trust, Indian HIV/AIDS Alliance and All India Primary Teachers Federation were recovered from Joshi. CBI believes that the representatives of some of these organisations were called and Joshi allegedly obtained illegal gratification from them.
