Kullu, May 17
AN Sharma, director, Kullu-Manali Airport, said Tariq Husain Butt, Head, Airport Marketing, Airports Authority of India (AAI), during a meeting today with various beneficiaries of the tourism industry at the Bhuntar airport, 10 km from here, discussed ways to increase air traffic to the valley.
He said the major focus was to seek ways to increase air traffic to this valley to boost the economy of the region.
He said various hurdles in the growth of air traffic were also discussed in detail. He added that representatives of various airlines were present at the meeting and they assured to increase air operations to this destination.
He said plans for increasing the length of the runway were also discussed. Air India had agreed to increase the number of flights to increase air traffic and lower the present air fares. He said the AAI was taking keen interest in the welfare of people of the state and various initiatives had been initiated for the growth of economy of the region.— OC
