Lucknow: BSP candidate from from Mathura-Vrindavan assembly constituency, Yogesh Dwivedi, found himself in midst of a controversy after an old photograph of him serving food to BSP founder Kanshiram and
Mayawati in a hotel went viral on social media on Tuesday.
BSP sources said Dwivedi used to work in a three-star hotel in Mathura when he first met Kanshiram and Mayawati.
The photograph was probably clicked in 1995 when Mayawati became UP chief minister for the first time.
Dwivedi was unavailable for comment, but BSP zonal coordinator
Kishore Kumar said it seems that the photograph was leaked by some BSP detractors. "Our party has been favouring candidates who may be economically weaker but are committed. Dwivedi is one of them," he said. Dwivedi had contested 2014
Lok Sabha elections from Mathura but came third, getting only 16% votes. His mother Pushpa Sharma was chairperson of Vrindavan nagar palika from 2008-2013.
