Mopa airport financial bid submission date extended
Panaji: On the request of bidders to extend the financial bid due date for submitting the request for proposal (RFP) for the construction of a new international greenfield airport at Mopa, the state government has extended the financial bid due date to June 24. This means that the government will now finalize the company on June 24 to construct the Mopa airport.
The last date to submit the financial bid was May 16.
Speaking to TOI, director for civil aviation S Shanbogue said that this would be the last extension given to the bidder to submit the RFP. The state government has issued RFP on January 15 and the last date to submit the financial bid was April 15 which was later extended till May 16.
He also said that the financial bid would be opened on June 24 online and the bidder would be selected based on the highest revenue shared with the state government. “Letter of award will be issued to the selected bidder on the same day,” Shanbogue added.
If there is a tie between two bidders, then both the bidders would be asked to furnish a fresh bid, Shanbogue said.
In January this year, the state government had issued the RFP for the proposed Greenfield airport at Mopa, seeking bids from interested companies to construct the airport. The construction of the airport at Mopa was expected to start by September 2016.
As Voluptas Developers did not allow to participate in financial bids, they approached the Delhi high court to quash the ministry of home affairs’ (MHA) decision to deny security clearance for them.
The state government later issued RFP for the construction of the proposed Greenfield airport at Mopa to Voluptas developer based on the direction of the Delhi high court. Delhi high court has directed the state government to issue RFP subject to the final outcome of the writ petition. The other four companies, who are participating in the financial bid proceess are GVK, GMR, Essel Infra-Mumbai and Airports Authority of India.
